Government announces details of the Farming Equipment & Technology Fund for 2023

The Farming Investment Fund (FIF) provides grants to improve productivity and bring environmental benefits. FIF is made up of 2 separate funds:

  • Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (for grants between £1,000 and £25,000)
  • Farming Transformation Fund (for grants between £25,000 and £500,000)

Today we’re looking at the Farming Equipment and Technology fund (FETF) which has grants available towards the cost of equipment and technology to improve:

  • Farm productivity
  • The environment
  • Animal health and welfare
  • Management of slurry

These will be split into 2 themes:

  • Productivity and slurry (Opened on 21 February 2023 until midday on 4 April 2023)
  • Animal health and welfare (Opening in March)

The Productivity and Slurry portal can be accessed here.

You are able to apply to both or either of the grants. They will be competitive so you will not automatically get a grant.

The minimum grant amount is £1,000 and the maximum is £25,000. You can apply for £25,000 from both themes and your 2022 claim will not affect your 2023 claim.

A list of eligible items and grant amount can be found on the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/farming-equipment-and-technology-fund-fetf-2023/annex-3-fetf-2023-productivity-and-slurry-eligible-items#forestry

Some examples are:

  • Rainwater harvesting – £939
  • Grain stirrers: £7,934
  • Soil health monitor package: £331
  • GPS for tractors: £1,051

The grant amount for each item is a set figure regardless of the actual cost.
