Understanding the impact of beaver introduction

On 22nd January, our team and a client visited Meonside Farm to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of beaver introduction. Meonside is running a beaver reintroduction project and were very open in sharing their experiences, insights, and the lessons they’ve learned within the controlled environment of their enclosure.

Our goal was to understand the potential impacts, both positive and negative, of the growing populations of beavers now living beyond contained sites. The visit provided valuable perspective on how beavers influence local ecosystems, water management, and land use, and what considerations may be important as populations continue to expand. We didn’t get a glimpse of the beavers, but we did meet their piggy neighbours, who are also helping re-engineer the beaver enclosure.
