The ABS 2022 winter wheat variety trial results are now in. This year has seen the highest yield, the highest average plot yield and the earliest harvest since the very first ABS wheat variety trial in 2006.

KWS Kinetic was the stand out highest yielding variety once again which it has now been in 2019, 2021 and now 2022 – which begs the question as to why it has not been more popular?

Other consistent performers over those years have been SY Insitor, KWS Kerrin, Gleam and Graham all of which except Gleam are in this year’s top 5.

Of the new varieties this year KWS Palladium has performed extremely well as a Group 2. Other newcomers RGT Bairstow, Champion and RGT Rashid have also done well.
